The Graceful Parrot

That Cement carrying Lorry needed it’s way.
That ‘parrot’ – obeying the driver
Extends its single arm, outside.
Not like a thick, stiff rod
Nor like a gentle request ‘Could you please, Its Urgent’
When it put its hands out
A grey bird emerges off the wrist
Gliding in waves.
And I am seeing….
A spectacular mudra suspended upon this meta road.
In front of this grace
Hey World ! Move Aside!

Translated by Karthik from the Tamil poem, ‘Nalinakkili’ by Isai
