Two Poems of Manushyaputhiran

Unspoken, unheard

================

words I never spoke
supposing you would
ask and ask

words I never heard
supposing you would
speak and speak

no other secrets
pauses for nothing else

The sword under water
==================

The murderous sword
lies under water.

Today there are no
rivers of blood.
All the same
the taste of blood
embitters the river water.

Waiting for the river’s
unceasing compassion
to cleanse it entirely
the murderous sword
lies under water.
